Federal Program Expands in Oklahoma
ROGERS COUNTY, Okla. — Rogers County has officially been added to the White House High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program (HIDTA), joining several other Oklahoma counties already recognized for high levels of drug activity.
The program brings additional federal resources to help law enforcement combat the growing surge of illicit drug use, including fentanyl and methamphetamine. Other Oklahoma counties in the HIDTA program include Tulsa, Muskogee, McIntosh, and Pittsburg.
Law Enforcement Resources Boosted in Rogers
Local officials say the addition will mean more coordination with federal task forces, targeted investigations, and funding for technology and training. Rogers County Sheriff’s Office noted that drug-related crimes have spiked in recent years, placing additional strain on small departments.
The program allows county agencies to work directly with federal counterparts to disrupt trafficking networks and reduce violent crime connected to the drug trade.
