What’s Happening at OU
The University of Oklahoma chapter of Turning Point USA will host the next stop on the “Turning Point Tour” on October 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Norman. This comes after the tragic assassination of the organization’s founder, Charlie Kirk, who was killed while speaking at Utah Valley University earlier this month. Organizers say the event aims to honor his legacy and promote free speech across college campuses.
Attendance is free but limited. You’ll need to register (limited by mobile number per person). Seating will be first-come, first-served.
Turning Point Tour Relaunch & Broader Movement
Turning Point USA has relaunched what was known as the “American Comeback Tour,” now rebranded the “Turning Point Tour” in memory of Charlie Kirk.
After Kirk’s death, the tour will feature guest speakers and conservative activists filling in at stops across the country. Their goal: maintain momentum, expand chapters, and continue dialogue around free speech and conservative values.
Additionally, the organization says it has received tens of thousands of new student sign-ups following the tragedy. Many are high school and college students interested in joining existing or forming new Turning Point chapters.
Bigger Picture: Free Speech, Security & Legacy
Kirk’s assassination has raised questions about campus security at political events. In response, host schools and organizers are reportedly tightening security protocols and coordination. While OU’s event hasn’t publicized details yet, similar events elsewhere have required registration tied to personal identifiers.
Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow, has stepped up as TPUSA CEO and leader of the Tour. She has pledged to continue her husband’s mission. Many see this tour stop as part memorial, part rally for free speech rights in colleges.
