Oklahoma Undocumented Tuition Bill Passes Senate
The Oklahoma undocumented tuition bill has passed the Oklahoma State Senate and now moves to the House for consideration.
Senate Bill 1633, authored by State Senator Brenda Stanley, passed Tuesday on a 39–7 vote.
The measure would bar undocumented immigrant students from receiving in-state tuition rates at Oklahoma public colleges and universities.
Oklahoma Undocumented Tuition Bill Follows Court Ruling
Supporters say the Oklahoma undocumented tuition bill aligns state law with a 2025 federal court ruling that struck down Oklahoma’s previous policy allowing undocumented students who graduated from state high schools to pay resident tuition rates.
Following that ruling, the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education voted in September 2025 to revoke the tuition policy.
Bill Could Affect Hundreds of Students
Lawmakers estimate about 400 students currently enrolled in Oklahoma public colleges could be impacted.
If approved, the Oklahoma undocumented tuition bill would also make undocumented students ineligible for state-funded scholarships and financial aid.
The legislation now heads to the Oklahoma House of Representatives for further consideration.
