Norman Officer Hospitalized After Roadside Crash

A Norman Police Department officer is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle overnight while standing outside his patrol unit on State Highway 9E.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the officer had stopped on the roadway for reasons still under review when a passing vehicle hit him. The impact caused severe injuries, and he was transported to a local hospital for emergency care.

Driver Remained on Scene and Cooperated

OHP officials say the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. At this time, no arrests have been made, and toxicology reports and reconstruction analysis are pending.

Norman Police and OHP are asking drivers to use extreme caution in construction zones and along highway shoulders, especially in low-visibility conditions.
