Elgin School Assault Case Leads to Termination
An Elgin Elementary School assault case has resulted in criminal charges and termination for a school employee in southwest Oklahoma.
According to the Comanche County District Court, Ottoria McClung, 37, has been charged with assault and battery on a student following an incident involving a five-year-old child.
Allegations and Investigation Details
Investigators say the Elgin Elementary School assault case began when a witness reported seeing McClung carrying a kindergartner down a hallway in a chokehold.
The Elgin Public Schools district confirmed that security camera footage supported the witness account, showing the child visibly distressed.
A witness also reported hearing McClung say, “I can’t deal with this,” during the incident.
Charges, Termination and Court Date
Records from the Comanche County Jail show McClung was booked on March 12, 2026, and later released on a $1,000 bond.
She faces a misdemeanor assault and battery charge and has pleaded not guilty.
School officials confirmed McClung has since been terminated from her position, emphasizing that student safety remains the district’s top priority.
McClung is scheduled to appear in Comanche County District Court on May 20, 2026, for a jury trial sounding.
