Norman AMBER Alert Ends in Tragedy After Missing Father and 4-Year-Old Son Found Dead in Texas

A search for a missing Oklahoma father and his young son has ended in tragedy after authorities discovered two bodies believed to be Caleb Furley and his 4-year-old son, Andres "Harry" Furley, in Gainesville, Texas, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. The discovery came after an AMBER Alert prompted a search involving law enforcement agencies in Oklahoma and North Texas.

The Norman AMBER Alert began following a missed custody exchange in Norman and intensified when investigators learned the father and child had reportedly been seen in Gainesville. Authorities canceled the statewide alert Wednesday after the bodies were discovered. Official identification and causes of death remain pending, and investigators have not publicly established the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Norman AMBER Alert Began After Missed Custody Exchange

According to information from the Norman Police Department, Harry was last seen with his father around 7 p.m. Sunday, October 11.

Caleb Furley reportedly failed to return to his Norman apartment for a scheduled custody exchange with the child's mother.

The boy's mother and grandmother contacted Norman police late Monday evening to report the pair missing.

Investigators initially issued an endangerment advisory before escalating the search to an AMBER Alert on Tuesday, October 13.

Authorities also obtained an arrest warrant for Caleb Furley on allegations of child stealing and parental kidnapping.

Gainesville Police Discover Bodies Following Surveillance Review

The Gainesville Police Department had received a 911 call Monday afternoon from a local business reporting a suspicious man accompanied by a child.

An officer searched the surrounding area using a drone but was unable to locate them.

On Wednesday morning, investigators returned to the business and reviewed surveillance footage showing the pair walking away from the location.

A subsequent search of the surrounding area led an investigator to discover the two bodies.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol discontinued the AMBER Alert following the discovery.

Texas Rangers Assist Investigation Into Father and Son's Deaths

The Texas Rangers, part of the Texas Department of Public Safety, are assisting Gainesville police with the ongoing investigation.

The medical examiner's office is responsible for confirming the identities and determining the causes of death. Authorities have not announced those findings or established whether foul play was involved.

Caleb Furley was reportedly a senior studying computer science and mathematics at the University of Oklahoma's Gallogly College of Engineering.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the father and son's movements or the circumstances surrounding their deaths to contact the Gainesville Police Department at 940-668-7777.
