Oklahoma Governor Race Poll Shows Mazzei and Munson Nearly Tied

Oklahoma Governor Race Poll Shows Mike Mazzei and Cyndi Munson in Statistical Tie
A new statewide poll suggests the 2026 Oklahoma governor's race is considerably closer than expected, with Republican nominee Mike Mazzei holding a narrow lead over Democratic nominee Cyndi Munson. The latest Cross Timbers Poll shows Mazzei receiving 39% support compared with Munson's 36%, placing the candidates in a statistical tie as the November election approaches.
The Oklahoma governor race poll also reveals a substantial number of undecided voters who could determine the outcome. With 17% of likely voters still uncommitted and independent candidate Jerry Griffin drawing additional support, both major-party campaigns face pressure to expand their coalitions before Election Day on November 3, 2026.
Undecided Republican Voters Could Shape November Election
One of the poll's most significant findings involves differences in party loyalty.
According to reporting by News 9, approximately 87% of registered Democrats support Munson, demonstrating strong consolidation among Democratic voters.
Mazzei, meanwhile, receives firm support from 55% of registered Republicans, with another 31% undecided.
When Republican voters leaning toward Mazzei are included, his support rises to approximately 70%.
The survey also found that 32% of registered voters remain undecided, compared with 17% among likely voters.
These numbers suggest voter turnout and late campaign decisions could play a major role in determining the winner.
Cook Political Report Shifts Oklahoma Governor Race Rating
The increasingly competitive contest has also attracted attention from national political analysts.
According to The Cook Political Report, Oklahoma's gubernatorial race has shifted from "Solid Republican" to "Likely Republican."
The change indicates Republicans remain favored to retain the governor's office, but the contest is no longer considered as secure as previously projected.
For Mazzei, the challenge involves consolidating Republican voters while attracting independents. Munson must maintain Democratic enthusiasm and persuade undecided voters to support her campaign.
With less than three weeks remaining before Election Day, the 2026 Oklahoma governor's race could depend heavily on turnout, independent voters and the sizable portion of the electorate still making its decision.
