New Oklahoma Laws Take Effect Friday

Compensation Law for Wrongful Imprisonment

A new law taking effect this Friday will increase the amount of money a wrongfully imprisoned person can receive as compensation.

The new measure is part of a larger wave of laws and joint resolutions going into effect this week.

Most of these laws became effective without Governor Kevin Stitt’s signature, a common practice for legislation that is not vetoed but not actively signed either.
