Lawsuit Filed After Weatherford Ammonia Leak Hospitalizes Dozens

A lawsuit has been filed in connection with the Weatherford ammonia leak, an incident that sent more than 30 people to the hospital and forced hundreds of residents from their homes. Attorney Clayton Burner says the lawsuit names AirGas, Holiday Inn Express, and related entities.

Burner represents four victims, but he expects more families to join the complaint as they continue experiencing medical symptoms, financial loss, and trauma from the evacuation.

Faulty Valve Believed to Have Caused Chemical Release

Investigators say the leak originated from a faulty valve on a semi-truck carrying anhydrous ammonia. The truck was parked near the hotel when the release triggered mass evacuations, school closures, and emergency air-quality monitoring across the city.

Officials reported 34 total hospitalizations, including multiple first responders exposed during the initial response.

Lawsuit Seeks Damages for Medical Issues and Trauma

Burner says the claim seeks compensation for pain and suffering, medical care, and long-term monitoring for anyone impacted by exposure to the toxic gas.

The NTSB continues to lead the federal investigation to determine exactly how the hazardous leak occurred and whether safety protocols were followed.
