Tulsa Park Sexual Assaults Remain Unsolved One Year Later

One year after two women reported separate attacks at Tulsa parks, police say both investigations remain open and no suspects have been identified.

The Tulsa park sexual assaults were reported just three days apart in August 2025 at Turkey Mountain and Hunter Park. While neither case has been solved, the attacks prompted significant security changes at Turkey Mountain, including more cameras, volunteer trail patrols and guided hikes.

Tulsa police say there have been no similar reported attacks at Turkey Mountain since last year's incident.

Tulsa Park Sexual Assaults Still Under Investigation

The first attack was reported Aug. 18, 2025, at Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness Area.

A woman told police she was hiking on the trails late at night when a man jumped out and raped her. The attack was reported to KJRH 2 News Oklahoma, but investigators never publicly named a suspect.

Three days later, on Aug. 21, another woman reported being physically and sexually assaulted at Hunter Park.

Police arrested a man during the Hunter Park investigation, but he was later released after authorities verified his alibi. Charges were dropped, and investigators said he was no longer considered a suspect.

A year later, Tulsa police say there are currently no known suspects in either case.

The investigations remain active, but police have not announced arrests or identified possible attackers.

Turkey Mountain Added Cameras and Volunteer Trail Patrols

Following the Turkey Mountain attack, the River Parks Authority moved quickly to increase security around the popular Tulsa recreation area.

Ryan Howell with River Parks said a donor provided $50,000 for additional security cameras, allowing the organization to substantially expand surveillance around Turkey Mountain.

River Parks also created the Turkey Mountain Trail Team, which attracted roughly 150 to 200 volunteers willing to help monitor the trails.

The organization later added guided group hikes for people who wanted to continue enjoying Turkey Mountain but did not feel comfortable hiking alone.

More information about Turkey Mountain safety programs and park resources is available through the River Parks Authority.

Howell said the community response demonstrated how strongly people felt about protecting one of Tulsa's most popular outdoor spaces.

Rather than staying away, attendance reportedly increased.

According to Howell, Tulsa police reviewed approximately a decade of 911 calls involving Turkey Mountain and found nothing comparable to the 2025 attack during that period.

He also said there has not been another reported incident similar to that attack at Turkey Mountain since the additional security measures were implemented.

No Suspects Named as Tulsa Police Continue Investigations

Despite the security improvements, the central question surrounding both cases remains unanswered: Who attacked the two women?

Tulsa police continue investigating the Turkey Mountain and Hunter Park cases, but authorities have not publicly announced new suspects or arrests.

The cases also serve as a reminder that investigators can clear someone initially suspected of a crime. The man arrested following the Hunter Park attack was released after his alibi was confirmed and is not considered a suspect.

Anyone with information about an unsolved crime can contact the Tulsa Police Department or provide information to investigators.

For River Parks officials, the year since the attacks has also been about restoring confidence in the trails.

Security cameras, volunteer patrols and organized hikes were designed to give people more ways to safely use Turkey Mountain while the police investigation continues.

For hikers who remain uncomfortable being on the trails alone, River Parks continues to recommend participating in guided Turkey Mountain hikes or becoming involved with the Trail Team.

One year later, both Tulsa sexual assault investigations remain unsolved, and police say no suspects have been named.
