Thunder Win Game 2 To Even Western Conference Finals
The Thunder Western Conference Finals series is officially tied 1-1 after Oklahoma City bounced back Wednesday night with a critical 122-113 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
Fresh off securing his second consecutive NBA MVP award, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led Oklahoma City with 30 points and 9 assists while helping the Thunder recover from the crushing double-overtime loss suffered in Game 1.
The energized performance shifted momentum back toward Oklahoma City as the Thunder Western Conference Finals matchup now heads to San Antonio for Games 3 and 4.
According to the NBA Western Conference Finals statistics, Oklahoma City dominated several key categories that helped even the series.
Thunder Western Conference Finals Bench Dominates Spurs
One of the biggest differences in the latest Thunder Western Conference Finals win came from Oklahoma City’s bench production.
The Thunder reserves overwhelmed San Antonio’s second unit by a massive 57-25 margin in bench scoring.
Veteran guard Alex Caruso paced Oklahoma City’s bench effort with 17 points while continuing to provide strong defensive pressure throughout the night.
Defensively, Oklahoma City also forced 21 Spurs turnovers and converted those mistakes into a dominant 27-10 edge in points off turnovers.
According to the NBA Game 2 statistics, the Thunder’s aggressive defense repeatedly disrupted San Antonio’s offensive rhythm.
Victor Wembanyama And Spurs Continue Fighting
Despite the loss, San Antonio still received another strong performance from superstar Victor Wembanyama during the Thunder Western Conference Finals matchup.
Wembanyama finished with 21 points, 17 rebounds, and four blocked shots.
Rookie guard Stephon Castle also stepped up offensively for the Spurs, contributing 25 points in the defeat.
However, Oklahoma City’s overall depth and defensive pressure ultimately proved too much for San Antonio to overcome late in the game.
Thunder Western Conference Finals Schedule Shifts To San Antonio
