THUNDER UP: OKC One Win Away From NBA Finals Return

The Oklahoma City Thunder head into tonight’s Western Conference Finals showdown against the San Antonio Spurs holding a commanding 3-2 series lead and standing just one victory away from returning to the NBA Finals.

The defending NBA champions regained momentum Tuesday night with a powerful 127-114 victory at Paycom Center after suffering a difficult loss in Game 4.

Now, the Thunder have an opportunity to close out the series on the road and officially punch their ticket to a championship matchup against the waiting New York Knicks.

The high-stakes Game 6 matchup tips off tonight in San Antonio.

Tonight’s Oklahoma City Thunder playoff matchup takes place Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Game details include:

  • Tipoff: 7:30 p.m. CDT / 8:30 p.m. ET

  • TV Broadcast: NBC

According to the NBA Western Conference Finals schedule, the series has delivered major momentum swings throughout all five games so far.

Oklahoma City Thunder Respond After Game 4 Collapse

The current Thunder vs Spurs series has featured dominant stretches from both teams.

Series results so far include:

  • Game 1: Spurs 122, Thunder 115 (2OT)

  • Game 2: Thunder 122, Spurs 113

  • Game 3: Thunder 123, Spurs 108

  • Game 4: Spurs 103, Thunder 82

  • Game 5: Thunder 127, Spurs 114

Following the rough Game 4 defeat, head coach Mark Daigneault adjusted Oklahoma City’s lineup to compensate for injuries involving Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell.

The changes paid off immediately.

Bench production from veteran Alex Caruso and rookie Jared McCain helped stabilize the offense while matching San Antonio’s physicality and scoring depth.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Continues Leading Thunder Push

Two-time Kia MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again powered the Oklahoma City Thunder offense during Tuesday’s Game 5 victory.

Despite early turnovers, Gilgeous-Alexander exploded for 32 points while helping OKC regain control of the series.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma City’s interior defense also dramatically improved.

The combination of Chet Holmgren and veteran center Isaiah Hartenstein successfully slowed down Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama, limiting him to just 4-of-15 shooting from the field during Game 5.

According to Thunder franchise playoff history, Oklahoma City has previously won six straight playoff series after taking a 3-2 lead.

Now, the Thunder sit just one win away from returning to the NBA Finals.
