Women’s College World Series Begins This Week In Oklahoma City
The countdown to the Women’s College World Series is officially underway as Oklahoma City prepares to host one of the biggest events in college softball beginning Thursday, May 28.
According to USA Softball, the 2026 Women’s College World Series will run through June 5 at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.
This year’s tournament arrives with major parking changes, Olympic expansion projects, and a dramatically different championship field after the Oklahoma Sooners failed to qualify for the first time in a decade.
Officials say fans attending the Women’s College World Series should prepare for new transportation procedures and expanded event logistics throughout the tournament week.
Women’s College World Series Parking Rules Changing
One of the largest changes surrounding the Women’s College World Series involves parking and transportation around Devon Park.
According to USA Softball, public parking will no longer be allowed in the primary stadium parking lot during the tournament.
Officials say the main lots are being reserved for media operations, NCAA officials, and expanded fan festival activities.
Fans attending the Women’s College World Series are instead being directed to park at Remington Park Lot C3.
Free shuttle buses will continuously transport fans between Remington Park and Devon Park throughout the tournament.
Additionally, all Uber and Lyft drop-offs and pickups will be restricted exclusively to the Remington Park shuttle area.
Tournament officials also remind fans that all entry tickets are digital-only through the AXS app.
Women’s College World Series Driving Olympic Expansion Plans
The 2026 Women’s College World Series also arrives as Oklahoma City accelerates preparations tied to the 2028 Summer Olympics.
According to the Oklahoma City Council, construction will begin immediately following the tournament on a new $25.4 million indoor softball training facility adjacent to Devon Park.
The facility represents part of a broader $50 million infrastructure expansion tied to Oklahoma City hosting Olympic softball events during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Plans include two full-size indoor practice fields, upgraded training facilities, sports medicine areas, and dedicated team tunnel access into the main stadium.
City leaders say the investments continue strengthening Oklahoma City’s position as one of the premier softball destinations in the world.
Women’s College World Series Field Features Major Shakeup
The 2026 Women’s College World Series bracket also features one of the biggest surprises in recent NCAA softball history.
For the first time in 10 years, the Oklahoma Sooners failed to qualify after being eliminated by Mississippi State during Super Regional play.
According to the NCAA Softball Tournament Bracket, this year’s field is heavily dominated by Southeastern Conference programs.
Opening-day matchups Thursday include:
12:00 p.m. CT: Texas Tech vs. Mississippi State (ESPN)
2:30 p.m. CT: Texas vs. Tennessee (ESPN)
7:00 p.m. CT: Alabama vs. UCLA (ESPN2)
9:30 p.m. CT: Nebraska vs. Arkansas (ESPN2)
Fans are expected to flood Oklahoma City throughout the week as the national championship chase officially begins.
