Stillwater Medical Center Plans Emergency Room Expansion
Stillwater Medical Center has announced plans to expand its emergency department to better serve the city’s growing population and surrounding communities across north-central Oklahoma. Hospital leaders say the project will help reduce wait times, add more patient rooms, and bring in upgraded medical equipment to meet rising demand.
The expansion also aims to create a more sustainable working environment for medical staff, who have faced increased pressure and burnout due to higher patient volumes. The hospital’s current emergency infrastructure was built for a smaller population, and administrators said modernization is now critical.
Addressing Population Growth and Wait Times
The expanded facility will include additional rooms designed to handle both critical and routine emergencies more efficiently. Leaders say shorter wait times will improve patient outcomes and ease crowding that has challenged hospital operations in recent years.
Upgrades will also include new monitoring systems, improved triage space, and modernized equipment to keep pace with rapid advances in emergency medicine.
Fundraising Efforts Underway
The Stillwater Medical Foundation is leading the fundraising effort to make the project possible. Its goal is to raise $500,000 toward the expansion, with donations coming from community partners, local businesses, and hospital supporters.
Foundation leaders said several events are planned to help reach that goal, including the 2025 Après Gala, which will spotlight the project and raise awareness about the importance of improving emergency care in the Stillwater region.
A Community-Driven Effort
Hospital officials said the project reflects a community-wide commitment to quality healthcare. Once complete, the new emergency department will help Stillwater Medical Center continue serving as a cornerstone for medical care in north-central Oklahoma.
