Southeast Oklahoma Meth Trafficking Ring Ends With 11 Guilty Pleas

A major federal drug investigation targeting a southeast Oklahoma meth trafficking ring has resulted in 11 guilty pleas following a multiagency operation led by state and federal law enforcement agencies.

The case was prosecuted in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and stems from a lengthy investigation into a drug trafficking organization accused of distributing methamphetamine across multiple communities in southeastern Oklahoma.

According to federal prosecutors, the organization operated from June 2024 through October 2025 and was responsible for trafficking more than 550 grams of methamphetamine.

The investigation was conducted through a Homeland Security Task Force initiative involving numerous local, state, tribal, and federal agencies.


Southeast Oklahoma Meth Trafficking Ring Targeted In Multi-Year Investigation

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office Eastern District of Oklahoma, investigators spent more than a year building the case against members of the alleged trafficking organization.

Authorities say the southeast Oklahoma meth trafficking ring distributed methamphetamine throughout several communities, including:

  • Atoka

  • Durant

  • Ada

  • Coalgate

  • Idabel

  • Wright City

The investigation was coordinated through a Homeland Security Task Force and included assistance from multiple law enforcement partners.

Officials say the operation focused on identifying suppliers, distributors, and individuals involved in moving illegal narcotics throughout the region.

The case ultimately led to federal charges against multiple defendants accused of participating in the conspiracy.


Defendants Face Drug And Firearm Charges

Eight defendants pleaded guilty to federal drug conspiracy charges connected to the southeast Oklahoma meth trafficking ring.

According to court filings, those defendants include:

  • Jerry Lee Grist, 66, of Atoka

  • Meagon Rashel Box, 39, of Atoka

  • Leslie Gale Bellettini, 67, of Coalgate

  • Dean Dewayne Henslee, 52, of Idabel

  • Angie Eulalia Nunez, 51, of Durant

  • Shawnda La Dawn Russell, 56, of Ada

  • Raymond Erwin Welch, 58, of Dallas, Texas

  • Willa Margarette Wear, 47, of Atoka

Federal prosecutors say those defendants face significant penalties, including substantial fines and lengthy prison sentences.

Additional guilty pleas were entered by:

  • Glenn Roger Hyde, 65, of Ada

  • David George Nunez, 56, of Durant

Both pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Meanwhile, Tommy Blake McCary, 74, of Wright City, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.


Multiple Agencies Participated In Investigation

The investigation into the southeast Oklahoma meth trafficking ring involved cooperation among numerous law enforcement agencies.

According to the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, the operation was part of a broader effort to combat large-scale narcotics trafficking organizations operating throughout Oklahoma.

Participating agencies included:

  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)

  • Bureau of Indian Affairs

  • Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics

  • Oklahoma Highway Patrol

  • Local sheriff's offices and police departments

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, methamphetamine remains one of the most commonly trafficked illegal drugs in the region and continues to be a major focus of federal and state enforcement efforts.

Sentencing hearings for the defendants will be scheduled at a later date by the federal court.
