Joint Operation Targets Crime Spike
Police in Sallisaw say a recent rise in burglaries and vehicle thefts has led to the arrest of sixteen people following a coordinated crackdown. The operation involved the Sallisaw Police Department, the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office, and members of the District 27 Violent Crimes and Drug Task Force.
Law enforcement increased patrols and surveillance in neighborhoods where property crimes had spiked in recent weeks.
Guns Recovered and Cases Solved
Investigators say the operation resulted in the recovery of multiple stolen firearms and the disruption of at least one burglary in progress. Authorities believe several of the suspects are connected to recent break-ins across the city, and many face additional charges related to theft, burglary, and drug possession.
Sallisaw Police Chief Terry Franklin thanked the public for calling in tips that helped lead officers to several suspects. Officials say community involvement and interagency cooperation were key to solving the cases quickly.
