Enid, OK-Gunman Opens Fire Inside Integris Hospital On Security Officer
Authorities have released the name of the victim in Sunday night’s hospital shooting in Enid, Oklahoma. The OSBI identified the victim as 72-year-old J.W. Bode, a longtime security officer at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.
Police Respond Quickly
According to investigators, the suspect entered the hospital late Sunday night and began shooting. Officers responded within minutes and exchanged gunfire with the suspect inside the building. The gunman was killed at the scene.
Community Mourning a Dedicated Officer
Hospital staff described Bode as a respected and well-liked member of the team.
“He was a protector, a friend, and a gentleman,” one hospital employee said.
City leaders and law enforcement agencies across the state expressed condolences to Bode’s family and praised his service to the Enid community.
Investigation Ongoing
Officials have not yet released the name of the suspect or a possible motive. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation continues to assist Enid Police in processing the scene and interviewing witnesses.
