Parents Charged With Murder After Dog Kills 2-Year-Old in Oklahoma City
The parents of a 2-year-old Oklahoma City girl have been charged with second-degree murder after their daughter was fatally attacked by a dog inside her bedroom.
Jordan McGuire and Darci Lambert are being held on $1 million bonds following the death of their daughter, Locklynn.
Child Was Unable to Escape Room, Police Say
Investigators say the couple placed the dog inside the child’s bedroom for the night, closing the door behind them. Police say the toddler had no way to escape once the dog became violent.
Authorities have not released details about the breed of the dog or previous behavioral issues, but they say the evidence supports a charge of extreme recklessness.
Murder Charges Filed as Investigation Continues
The Oklahoma City Police Department says the investigation is ongoing, including a full review of the home, the child's living conditions, and the dog’s history.
Prosecutors allege the parents showed a “depraved disregard for human life,” leading to the upgraded charges.
