Oklahoma Senate Race Candidates Field Growing

The list of Oklahoma Senate race candidates is beginning to grow as political leaders position themselves for a potential open seat in Washington.

Congressman Kevin Hern has already announced his campaign to replace U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin, who was nominated by President Donald Trump to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Hern becomes the first major candidate to formally enter the race.

Oklahoma Senate Race Candidates Expanding

The field of Oklahoma Senate race candidates could become crowded in the coming weeks.

Congresswoman Stephanie Bice has confirmed she is considering a run for the seat, while other Republicans mentioned as potential candidates include Governor Kevin Stitt and Congressman Josh Brecheen.

Several additional candidates have already entered the Republican primary, including Nick Hankins, Ron Meinhardt, Tammy Swearengin, and Wayne Washington.

Election Timeline Taking Shape

If confirmed to the cabinet post, Mullin would vacate his Senate seat.

Under Oklahoma law, the Governor of Oklahoma would appoint an interim senator to serve until voters select a replacement.

Election officials say the Oklahoma Senate race candidates must file by April 3, with the primary election scheduled for June and the general election set for November 3, 2026.
