OU Cancer Center Tulsa Expansion Receives $2 Million Gift

A major donation is helping fuel the growing OU Cancer Center Tulsa expansion after the Stuart Family Foundation contributed $2 million toward the project’s continued development.

The funding will support the expansion of the OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center Tulsa location currently under construction on the University of Oklahoma’s Schusterman Center campus.

According to OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center, the massive OU Cancer Center Tulsa expansion will dramatically increase cancer treatment access and clinical research opportunities for patients across northeastern Oklahoma.

The new 176,000-square-foot facility is expected to officially open in 2028.

OU Cancer Center Tulsa Expansion Will Increase Treatment Capacity

The new OU Cancer Center Tulsa expansion is designed to significantly expand patient care capacity and specialized treatment services.

According to OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center, the facility will feature more than 70 exam rooms focused on multidisciplinary cancer care and patient-centered treatment coordination.

Plans also include 45 infusion spaces ranging from private treatment rooms to fast-track infusion chairs.

The expanded OU Cancer Center Tulsa expansion will additionally include advanced imaging and radiation treatment capabilities using MRI systems, CT scanners, linear accelerators, and theranostics technology.

Officials say the facility will also house clinical trial laboratories designed to expand patient access to experimental therapies and early-phase cancer treatment research.

Stuart Family Foundation Gift Supports Facility Development

The $2 million contribution from the Stuart Family Foundation will help support ongoing construction and development tied to the OU Cancer Center Tulsa expansion.

According to university officials, the facility will also include the new Stuart Family Foundation Café located on the building’s first floor.

Leaders with OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center say private donations continue playing a major role in helping accelerate cancer treatment expansion efforts throughout Oklahoma.

The facility represents one of the largest investments in specialized cancer care infrastructure currently underway in northeastern Oklahoma.

OU Cancer Center Tulsa Expansion Aims To Reduce Travel Burdens

Officials say the OU Cancer Center Tulsa expansion is intended to reduce the travel and financial strain many Oklahoma families currently face when seeking advanced cancer treatment.

Historically, patients in northeastern Oklahoma often traveled long distances to access National Cancer Institute-designated cancer care or participate in clinical trials.

According to the National Cancer Institute, expanded regional access to cancer research centers can improve patient outcomes by increasing participation in advanced treatment programs and specialized care options.

State leaders say the expanded Tulsa facility will allow more Oklahomans to receive comprehensive cancer treatment closer to home while expanding access to innovative therapies and clinical trials.
