opposition to a hydroelectric project

A plan to divert water from the Kiamichi River in Pushmataha county to create a hydropower project to create electricity for Texas now is being opposed by the Choctaw nation.  Hundreds of residents in the area along with federal regulators are already opposing the project.  The Choctaw point out the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission policy blocks any project that is opposed by a tribal government.
