Oklahoma Terror Plot Leads to Federal Prison Sentence
An Afghan national living legally in the U.S. has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for his role in an Oklahoma terror plot planned for Election Day.Federal prosecutors say 19-year-old Abdullah Haji Zada knowingly received — and conspired to receive — a firearm and ammunition intended for use in the planned attack.
Federal Case Details
Court filings show that Zada coordinated with another individual to secure the weapon. Investigators intercepted communications and evidence before any attack took place. Prosecutors have not released the intended target but confirmed the attack was tied to Election Day activity somewhere in Oklahoma.
Deportation After Release
Zada has agreed to be deported after serving his sentence. Federal law permits removal from the U.S. after a terrorism-related conviction, even for lawful permanent residents.
Federal Officials Respond
U.S. Attorneys say the conviction highlights ongoing efforts to monitor threats linked to election security. Officials report no continuing threat from this case.
