Oklahoma drought disaster loans available through SBA

Oklahoma drought disaster loans are now available to help small businesses and nonprofits recover from ongoing dry conditions across the state.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced low-interest Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) for eligible organizations impacted by drought conditions that began on November 15, 2025.

The declaration covers dozens of counties across Oklahoma, along with portions of neighboring states.

Oklahoma drought disaster loans cover widespread counties

The Oklahoma drought disaster loans apply to a broad geographic area, including major population centers and rural communities.

Eligible counties include Oklahoma County, Tulsa County, Cleveland County, Comanche County, and Muskogee County, among many others.

The declaration also extends into parts of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas, reflecting the widespread impact of drought conditions across the region.

Federal disaster loan programs are administered by the U.S. Small Business Administration, which provides financial assistance during declared disasters.

Loans designed to support operating expenses

The Oklahoma drought disaster loans are intended to help businesses and organizations manage financial strain caused by lost revenue.

Funds can be used for working capital needs, including payroll, fixed debts, accounts payable, and other operating expenses.

Unlike some disaster programs, applicants do not need to show physical damage to qualify.

Loan amounts can reach up to $2 million, with interest rates as low as 4% for small businesses and 3.625% for private nonprofit organizations, with repayment terms of up to 30 years.

Disaster assistance and recovery programs are often coordinated in partnership with agencies like the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which plays a role in drought-related declarations.

Application deadline set for December

Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to take advantage of available funding.

The deadline to submit applications for the Oklahoma drought disaster loans is December 10.

Businesses can apply online through the SBA’s disaster assistance portal or contact the agency directly for support.

Federal emergency economic programs are part of broader disaster response efforts supported by agencies like the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which works alongside SBA during recovery events.

Officials say the loans are designed to provide critical financial relief as communities continue to deal with the economic effects of prolonged drought conditions.
