Representatives from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) will testify before a Homeland Security subcommittee Thursday on the role of foreign nationals in the state’s marijuana industry.
Growing Concerns Over Foreign Involvement
OBN reports that nationals from at least 12 countries are involved in Oklahoma marijuana grows, with 70% to 80% having ties to China.
Law enforcement says the rapid growth of illicit farms has not only undercut legal operators but also raised concerns about organized crime, labor exploitation, and national security risks.
The testimony comes as lawmakers debate tougher regulations on foreign land ownership and broader oversight of the cannabis industry.
