Eden Village Builds Tiny Homes to Address Tulsa Homelessness
State Crackdown vs. Local Solutions
Governor Kevin Stitt has doubled down on his effort to clear homeless camps from Tulsa, deploying state troopers and offering individuals a choice between shelter or jail. Critics say this approach does little to address root causes.
Meanwhile, local community leaders are moving forward with their own solution: a privately funded tiny home community called Eden Village.
A Community of Stability
Once complete, Eden Village will feature 63 one-bedroom units designed to provide long-term housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. Several of the homes are already built and occupied.
The program is funded entirely through private donations, and organizers say the goal is not just shelter, but dignity. Each resident will have their own space, access to supportive services, and a chance to rebuild their lives in a safe environment.
Why It Matters
Supporters say Eden Village demonstrates how communities can work outside of government mandates to create real, lasting change. Similar projects across the country have shown a reduction in chronic homelessness when stable housing is paired with wraparound services.
