Coweta Approves $10 Million Fire Station After Mold Forces Temporary Housing
Coweta is moving forward with a Coweta fire station project aimed at improving safety and working conditions for first responders after years of challenges tied to the city’s aging facility.
City officials say firefighters were previously forced to live and work out of a mobile home behind the existing station due to mold contamination that made the building unsafe.
Coweta Fire Station Project Addresses Safety Concerns
The new $10 million Coweta fire station will be built across from Coweta High School, providing modern equipment bays, living quarters, and training space. City leaders say the project will significantly improve response capabilities and firefighter health.
Mold contamination in the previous facility raised concerns among city officials and public safety experts, prompting long-term planning for a replacement station.
Police Department Also Receiving New Facility
In addition to the fire station, the Coweta Police Department will receive a new $7 million facility, further expanding public safety infrastructure in the community.
City officials say the investments reflect Coweta’s growth and the increasing demands placed on emergency services. Construction timelines will be finalized following contract approvals.
