Matt Pinnell Announces Decision to Step Away From Politics
Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell has announced he will not run for governor or any other elected office in 2026.
The announcement means Matt Pinnell plans to step away from public office when his current term ends in January.
According to News On 6, Pinnell said the decision came after discussions with his wife, Lisa, about the future beyond politics.
Pinnell said the couple is ready to begin a new chapter once his time in state government comes to an end.
No Plans for Future Campaign
The statement from Matt Pinnell comes as political speculation had recently increased about potential candidates in upcoming elections.
Changes within Oklahoma’s congressional delegation had sparked renewed conversations about whether Pinnell might seek higher office.
However, Pinnell made it clear he will not be a candidate for any public office in 2026, effectively ending speculation about a potential campaign.
Years of Service in State Government
