Bluegrass And Chili Festival Returns To Tahlequah For 46th Year

The Bluegrass and Chili Festival will return to historic downtown Tahlequah Sept. 11-12, bringing two days of nationally recognized bluegrass music, championship chili, family activities and thousands of visitors to northeastern Oklahoma.

The 46th annual festival will feature continuous music across three stages along with the Mid-America Regional Chili Cook-Off, Wiener Dog Races, a car and tractor show, artisan vendors and activities for children. General admission is free for the entire weekend.

Bluegrass And Chili Festival Brings Music And Food Downtown

Award-winning bluegrass musicians from across the country will perform throughout the two-day festival while visitors explore downtown Tahlequah.

The official Bluegrass & Chili Festival website provides the complete entertainment schedule and festival information for visitors planning to attend.

"The Bluegrass & Chili Festival has become one of Cherokee County's signature events because it brings together great music, outstanding food, and an incredible sense of community," Explore Cherokee County Tourism Director Victoria Byrd said.

Beyond the concerts, festival activities include the popular Wiener Dog Races, a Kiddie Korral, local shopping, festival food and a car and tractor show.

The event has become a longtime Tahlequah tradition and attracts visitors from Oklahoma and surrounding states each year.

Chili Cook-Off Gives Visitors A Chance To Judge

Saturday's Mid-America Regional Chili Cook-Off will bring championship chili cooks together to compete for top honors.

Visitors who want to sample the competition entries can purchase a $10 Chili Tasters Kit. The kit is the only way for festival attendees to taste the competing recipes and includes a People's Choice ballot allowing visitors to select their favorite chili.

General admission and access to the festival's regular concert viewing areas remain free.

Visitors who want reserved seating for the music can purchase a $55 Hot Seat Ticket through the festival's official Hot Seat Pass page. The upgrade provides reserved seating in a designated front-stage viewing area throughout the weekend.

Tahlequah Welcomes Festival Visitors September 11-12

The festival also provides an opportunity for visitors to explore Tahlequah and Cherokee County beyond the downtown event.

Travelers coming from outside the area can find lodging, attractions and other visitor information through the Explore Cherokee County tourism website while planning their festival weekend.

Tour Tahlequah is also part of Green Country Tourism, which promotes destinations and events throughout 18 counties in northeastern Oklahoma.

The Bluegrass and Chili Festival runs Friday, Sept. 11, and Saturday, Sept. 12, in historic downtown Tahlequah.

With free admission, live bluegrass, championship chili and activities ranging from Wiener Dog Races to local shopping, organizers are preparing for another large crowd for one of the community's longest-running annual traditions.
