The Wildlife Department says it is taking a “measured approach” to the discovery of a sick deer. This discovery in the Panhandle is the second apparent case of chronic wasting disease in less than a week. State officials are working out a plan to track the disease and try to slow its spread.
Thirty other states are already dealing with the always-fatal illness that could end up having a big impact on Oklahoma’s hunting season.
