After more than a week of an intense wildfire, as of today, most of the Wichita Mountain Wildlife refuge is again open. Most recreational areas and trailheads are now welcoming visitors. The refuge Visitor Center and Rush Lake Road are still closed. Fire crews are still working in the area, addressing hot spots. Camping will resume on Wednesday. And be careful driving some wildlife has been displaced.
