Expect utility bills to go even higher following a state supreme court decision. It’s tied to the bonds that were floated to cover the costs of price gouging of natural gas during the winter storm of 2021. The Corporation Commission had ruled no franchise fees or local taxes could be attached to that extra cost. The state’s high court overturned that decision sending the issue back to the commission. The decision will likely raise the 3-billion-dollar payback by another 100 million dollars.
