Major Security Improvements Coming to Turkey Mountain
Over 30 Cameras Installed After Summer Assaults
The City of Tulsa is installing more than 30 surveillance cameras across the popular Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness Area following two reported summer assaults in public parks. Officials say the new camera system is designed to significantly increase safety for hikers and trail users.
Every camera will feed directly into the Tulsa Police Real Time Information Center, allowing officers to access live footage immediately if an incident is reported.
Tulsa Encourages Visitors to Stay Aware
Officials say hikers should continue practicing safety measures such as:
Using the buddy system
Sticking to busier trails
Visiting during daylight or weekend hours
Reporting suspicious activity
The trail system draws thousands of visitors each year, and city leaders emphasize that these safety improvements are intended to protect the public without disrupting the natural space.
A Continued Investment in Outdoor Safety
Tulsa has made trail security a priority after a statewide increase in park usage and isolated incidents of violence earlier this year. Turkey Mountain remains one of Tulsa’s most used outdoor recreation areas, and the investment in surveillance is part of the city’s broader public-safety strategy.
