Tulsa Man Bolts Moments Before Verdict
Tulsa police are searching for Chance Oswalt, who fled the Tulsa County Courthouse just minutes before a jury returned a guilty verdict in his child neglect trial. Oswalt was being tried for the 2023 death of his 10-month-old son, who prosecutors say died after ingesting fentanyl.
According to the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office, Oswalt told his attorneys he “needed to use the bathroom,” then disappeared. Surveillance video shows him running from the courthouse shortly after leaving the courtroom.
Arrest Warrant Issued as Search Expands
A warrant is now issued, and Tulsa police are urging the public to report sightings but not approach him. Oswalt faces significant prison time upon sentencing.
The child’s mother, who prosecutors say played a role in the unsafe conditions that led to the baby’s death, is scheduled to go on trial in February for similar charges.
