Cameron Lewis claims Logan Musil’s death was accidental

Court documents now shed light on the tragic death of Southwestern Oklahoma State University student Logan Musil.

Investigators say Cameron Lewis, 18, confessed to dumping Musil’s body after what he described as a “fight gone wrong.” According to a federal search warrant, Lewis told agents the two had taken psychedelic mushrooms before the fight turned violent.

The confession and discovery

Lewis claims Musil hit his head on a rock during the struggle and became unconscious. Panicked, Lewis said he dragged the body into his car and drove nearly two hours to Veteran’s Lake near Sulphur, where he left the body in a wooded area.

Police located Musil’s body earlier this week after a campus-wide search. Investigators said the remains matched the description provided by Lewis.

Charges and next steps

Lewis now faces a felony charge of abuse of a corpse and could face additional charges pending autopsy results. Authorities say toxicology tests will confirm whether drugs were in Musil’s system at the time of death.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation continues to lead the case, calling it “a deeply tragic situation that shook both families and the SWOSU community.”

Campus officials said grief counselors are available for students and faculty. A candlelight vigil for Musil will take place next week in Weatherford.
