Governor Stitt is hoping to settle the tobacco compact issues before the legislature tries again to override his veto.
Stitt has sent a letter to the tribes that have tobacco compacts that expire this year, asking those involved to agree to his offer to extend the current compacts for one more year.
The deal is a 50/50 split on tax revenues from tobacco sales, and the offer calls for eliminating the unilateral termination provisions of the compact.
