Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom Teacher of the Year Honored

A Grove Public Schools teacher has been recognized statewide after being named the 2026 Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom Teacher of the Year.

Jennifer Meyer, a first-grade teacher at Grove Public Schools, earned the honor for incorporating agriculture into everyday classroom learning.

Meyer uses a program called “Fun Ag Fridays,” where students participate in cross-curricular lessons centered around agriculture. Activities have included learning about chickens and their life cycles as well as exploring how pickles are made, combining reading lessons with hands-on activities such as tasting different types of pickles.

Meyer also shares classroom updates with parents through the school app and social media.

Agriculture Lessons Making an Impact

Meyer says parents often tell her their children talk about agriculture at home, which she believes shows the lessons are making an impact beyond the classroom.

“Since Mrs. Meyer began her journey with Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom, she continues to add more agriculture into her classroom and is always eager to share what she does with other educators,” Ague said.

Recognition at Oklahoma Ag Day

As the Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom Teacher of the Year, Meyer will be honored by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry during the annual Oklahoma Ag Day Celebration on April 29.

She will also receive an all-expense-paid trip to the National Ag in the Classroom Conference in Rhode Island this June.
