Stepfather Hospitalized After Suicide Attempt Following Child Abuse Charges

The Caddo County child abuse case involving a missing 12-year-old boy has taken another troubling turn, as the child’s stepfather is now hospitalized following an apparent suicide attempt.

Caddo County Child Abuse Case Expands Inside Jail

District Attorney Jason Hicks confirms George Franklin Cole Jr. was found unresponsive in his jail cell shortly after appearing in court. Cole is facing 14 felony charges, including eight counts of child abuse, one count of child sexual abuse, and three counts of child neglect.

Cole was transported to a hospital for treatment and remains under guard.

Child Found Safe After Weeklong Search

The charges stem from the disappearance of 12-year-old RJ Davis, who was missing for more than a week before being found safe. Investigators say the child had suffered ongoing abuse and neglect.

RJ’s mother, Kimberly Cole, is also facing multiple felony charges and remains jailed in Caddo County.

Prosecutors Emphasize Child Protection

The Caddo County District Attorney’s Office says the case highlights the importance of swift intervention when child abuse is suspected. Authorities credit tips from the public and coordination with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) for helping locate the child.

Court proceedings are expected to resume once Cole is medically cleared.
