Spiro Mounds are Registered as a Historic Place

Sites around the Spiro Mounds are now listed as one of the states most endangered places. The archaeological sites near the Mounds are in danger of neglect and deterioration according to Preservation Oklahoma. Spiro mounds is on the National Register of Historic places. The main site is protected but nearby related sites many on private property are not.
