Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Wins Second Straight NBA MVP

Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander MVP victory officially became historic Saturday night after the Thunder guard claimed his second consecutive NBA Most Valuable Player award.

The 27-year-old Thunder star received 83 of 100 first-place votes from a global media panel, easily defeating finalists Nikola Jokić and Victor Wembanyama.

The latest Shai Gilgeous-Alexander MVP win places him among some of the greatest players in NBA history.

He now becomes just the 14th player ever to win back-to-back NBA MVP awards.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander MVP Win Makes NBA History

The historic Shai Gilgeous-Alexander MVP victory also puts the Thunder guard in rare company among NBA guards.

SGA became only the fifth guard in league history to win consecutive MVP awards, joining Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Steve Nash, and Stephen Curry.

During the regular season, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 31.1 points per game while shooting a remarkable 55.3% from the field.

According to official NBA statistics, he became the only guard in league history to average more than 30 points per game while shooting above 55%.

SGA also extended a historic streak of 20-point games that surpassed a 63-year-old record previously held by Wilt Chamberlain.

Thunder Dominated Behind SGA MVP Season

The incredible Shai Gilgeous-Alexander MVP campaign helped lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a dominant 64-18 regular-season record and the top seed in the Western Conference.

In addition to scoring, SGA posted career highs in assists while leading the NBA in total plus-minus and clutch scoring.

According to the NBA Kia Clutch Player of the Year voting, Gilgeous-Alexander also finished first in clutch points scored during the season.

Analysts noted the Thunder star accomplished much of his scoring dominance despite ranking only 42nd in the league in total touches per game.

Many games also saw SGA resting during fourth quarters because Oklahoma City held large leads.

SGA Shares MVP Moment With Thunder Teammates

Following the announcement of the Shai Gilgeous-Alexander MVP award, the Thunder star immediately credited teammates, coaches, and organization leadership.

Before his official press conference, Gilgeous-Alexander reportedly surprised teammates with luxury gift baskets featuring designer items, golf bags, and high-end watches.
