Sam Wargin-Grimaldo Sworn In As Oklahoma's Newest State Representative
Sam Wargin-Grimaldo was officially sworn into the Oklahoma House of Representatives on Friday, becoming the new representative for House District 92 and marking a historic moment for Latino representation at the State Capitol.
The Oklahoma Legislative Latino Caucus hosted a community reception in the Capitol Rotunda before the official swearing-in ceremony inside the Oklahoma House Chamber.
Wargin-Grimaldo will represent much of south Oklahoma City, succeeding former Representative Forrest Bennett, who resigned from the Legislature.
The ceremony celebrated both the transition of leadership in House District 92 and the growing diversity of Oklahoma's Legislature.
Sam Wargin-Grimaldo Represents House District 92
Sam Wargin-Grimaldo secured the House District 92 seat after winning the Democratic primary.
Because no Republican or Independent candidates filed for the general election, his primary victory effectively secured his election to the Legislature.
House District 92 includes much of south Oklahoma City and has been represented by former Representative Forrest Bennett, who stepped down after accepting a new leadership role outside the Legislature.
Before entering public office, Wargin-Grimaldo built a career as a bilingual attorney focusing on immigration and criminal defense while also serving as a teacher with Oklahoma City Public Schools.
