A Perry police officer child abuse case is under investigation after court documents allege a city police officer and a woman abused three children over an extended period.
According to charging documents, Christopher McNabb, a Perry Police Department officer, is accused of beating, slapping, and verbally abusing the children. Investigators say Kayla Renfrow is charged with enabling the abuse.
Perry police officer child abuse allegations detailed in court records
Court documents allege McNabb threatened the children to ensure they lied to the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. The alleged abuse did not occur while McNabb was on duty.
The Perry Police Department confirmed McNabb has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
Internal and criminal investigations underway
Authorities say the criminal case is separate from the department’s internal review. The Noble County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation may assist if additional jurisdictional review is required.
Officials emphasize child protection
State officials remind the public that suspected child abuse should be reported immediately to DHS or law enforcement.
