Increased Security Planned for College Football Playoff Game
Law enforcement agencies are preparing for a major influx of fans as OU hosts Alabama Friday night in the first round of the College Football Playoff at Memorial Stadium.
Officials say the playoff atmosphere will bring larger crowds than a typical home game, prompting expanded security measures on and around campus.
Norman Police Plan Expanded Presence and Early Closures
Norman Police Department says there will be more officers on duty than on a standard game day, with patrols focused on traffic control, pedestrian safety, and crowd management.
Street closures in the campus area are expected to begin around 1 p.m. Friday, several hours earlier than usual to accommodate increased foot traffic and security operations.
University of Oklahoma police will also assist with stadium security and campus monitoring throughout the day and evening.
