OSU Marks 25 Years Since Remember the Ten Tragedy
The Remember the Ten anniversary marks 25 years since one of the most tragic days in Oklahoma State University history.
In January 2001, an airplane carrying 10 members of the OSU men’s basketball program crashed in Colorado, killing everyone on board. The loss profoundly shaped the university and its basketball program.
Remember the Ten anniversary honored by new generation
Cowboys Head Coach Steve Lutz says it is an honor to teach a new generation of players about “The Ten.” With 12 new players on a 15-man roster, Lutz says remembering the tragedy helps instill perspective, gratitude, and unity.
OSU will host ninth-ranked Iowa State on Saturday in the annual Remember the Ten game, an event that honors the lives lost and the legacy they left behind.
Tradition continues at OSU
University officials say the remembrance ensures the story is never forgotten, even as new students and athletes join the program.
