Oklahoma State Homecoming 2026 Brings Thousands of Cowboys Back to Stillwater

Oklahoma State University is celebrating the 105th edition of America's Greatest Homecoming this weekend, welcoming tens of thousands of alumni, students and visitors to Stillwater for one of the university's most beloved traditions. The celebration features elaborate Greek Row decorations, the annual Sea of Orange Parade and a Saturday night football matchup between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Colorado Buffaloes.

The Oklahoma State Homecoming 2026 festivities reach their peak Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24, with major events scheduled throughout the city. Friday night's Walkaround will showcase months of work by student organizations, while Saturday's parade and football game will bring generations of Cowboy fans together for a weekend of school spirit, alumni connections and community celebrations.

Greek Row Walkaround Showcases Elaborate Student Decorations Friday Night

One of the weekend's most anticipated events is the annual Greek Row Walkaround, scheduled for Friday, October 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thousands of visitors are expected to walk through the university's fraternity and sorority neighborhoods to view elaborate house decorations created by students.

The decorations are constructed using a tradition known as pomping, in which students attach thousands of pieces of colored tissue paper to large structures to create detailed designs. Fraternity and sorority pairings spend months planning and building the displays, many of which include animated elements and elaborate scenes celebrating Oklahoma State.

Walkaround has become one of the university's signature traditions, drawing alumni and families who return year after year to experience the displays. The event also highlights the dedication of student organizations that invest significant time and effort into preparing for the celebration.

Visitors planning to attend should expect substantial pedestrian traffic and crowded streets near Greek Row. Arriving early and wearing comfortable walking shoes can make navigating the event easier, particularly for families traveling with children.

Information about university traditions and scheduled activities is available through the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association.

Sea of Orange Parade Features Cowboy Legend Terry Miller as Grand Marshal

Saturday's festivities begin with the Sea of Orange Parade at 9:00 a.m. on October 24, bringing colorful floats, marching bands, student organizations and thousands of spectators into downtown Stillwater.

The parade will travel north along Main Street, beginning at Ninth Street and ending at Hall of Fame Avenue. Spectators traditionally line the route to watch elaborate floats and celebrate the university's longstanding connection with the Stillwater community.

Former Oklahoma State football standout Terry Miller will serve as the 2026 parade Grand Marshal. Miller is a member of the Oklahoma State Ring of Honor and remains one of the most recognizable players in Cowboy football history.

His selection connects this year's celebration with the university's athletic legacy, honoring a former player whose accomplishments remain an important part of Oklahoma State football history.

Following the parade, attention will turn toward Boone Pickens Stadium, where Oklahoma State will host the Colorado Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. Saturday. The game will be nationally televised on Fox Sports 1 (FS1), allowing fans unable to attend in person to watch the matchup.

Winners of the university's decoration and float competitions are also expected to be recognized during the game, providing a final celebration of the work completed by participating student organizations.

Stillwater Businesses and Campus Traditions Welcome Thousands of Visitors

The weekend's activities extend well beyond campus, bringing increased traffic to Stillwater restaurants, businesses and entertainment destinations.

One of the city's most recognizable gathering places, Eskimo Joe's on Elm Street, is hosting its Joe State Tailgate celebration featuring live music and activities for returning alumni and visitors. The restaurant's famous cheese fries remain a popular attraction, although guests should anticipate longer waits during the busy weekend.

On campus, the Edmon Low Library fountain has been dyed Oklahoma State orange, providing another popular destination for photographs and school spirit. The fountain is a familiar gathering place during university celebrations and offers visitors a chance to capture memories of their return to Stillwater.

The influx of visitors also provides an economic boost for local businesses as hotels, restaurants and retail establishments welcome guests from across Oklahoma and beyond. The annual gathering is among Stillwater's largest events, generating activity throughout the community.

Visitors can find additional information about campus activities, university traditions and athletic events through Oklahoma State University's official website.

America's Greatest Homecoming remains one of Oklahoma State University's defining traditions, connecting generations of Cowboys through shared experiences and school pride. From Friday night's elaborate Walkaround displays to Saturday's parade and football game, the festivities celebrate the university's history and its lasting connection with alumni.

With the Cowboys preparing to face Colorado under the lights at Boone Pickens Stadium, Stillwater is ready for another weekend filled with orange, tradition and Oklahoma State spirit.
