Oklahoma to Honor USS Oklahoma Crew on Pearl Harbor Anniversary
Ceremony Set for Sunday in Ardmore
The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs will host a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day ceremony on Sunday at the Veterans Cemetery in Ardmore, beginning at noon.
Remembering the USS Oklahoma
The ceremony will honor the 429 sailors and Marines who died aboard the USS Oklahoma, which capsized during the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. The ship suffered one of the highest casualty counts of any vessel that day.
Statewide Observances Planned
Veterans groups and military families are expected to attend. The event will also recognize all service members and civilians killed during the attack, which launched the United States into World War II.
