Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame Welcomes Class Of 2026

Some of the biggest names in Oklahoma sports officially took their place in history Monday night as the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame inducted its Class of 2026 during a ceremony at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

The class honors legendary athletes, coaches and sports pioneers whose accomplishments have left a lasting impact on Oklahoma and beyond. This year's ceremony also recognized the 2024-25 Oklahoma City Thunder as the Team of Legend following the franchise's historic 2025 NBA Championship season.

Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame Celebrates Legendary Careers

The Class of 2026 features six individual inductees representing football, baseball, gymnastics and auto racing.

Among the headliners is Sam Bradford, the former University of Oklahoma quarterback who won the 2008 Heisman Trophy after leading one of the most prolific offenses in college football history. Bradford later became the No. 1 overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft and finished his NFL career with more than 19,000 passing yards.

Joining Bradford is K.J. Kindler, whose leadership has transformed the University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics program into one of the nation's premier collegiate dynasties. Since arriving in Norman in 2006, Kindler has guided the Sooners to eight NCAA national championships.

Former Major League Baseball star Matt Holliday, Oklahoma State University football legend Terry Miller, three-time OU All-American Rod Shoate, who was inducted posthumously, and racing pioneer Emmett Hahn, co-founder of the Chili Bowl Nationals, also joined this year's class.

OKC Thunder Honored As Team Of Legend

The ceremony also celebrated the 2024-25 Oklahoma City Thunder, which received recognition as the Class of 2026 Team of Legend.

The honor follows the Thunder's memorable 2025 NBA Championship, a milestone that brought Oklahoma City its first NBA title and cemented the team's place among the state's greatest sports achievements.

The Team of Legend designation recognizes organizations whose accomplishments have had a lasting impact on Oklahoma sports history.

For many fans attending Monday's ceremony, the Thunder's championship season represented one of the defining moments in the state's modern sports landscape.

Hall Of Fame Preserves Oklahoma's Rich Sports Legacy

Each year, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame recognizes individuals whose achievements have elevated Oklahoma's reputation on the national and international stage.

This year's class spans multiple generations and sports, highlighting excellence from collegiate athletics and professional sports to motorsports and coaching.

Whether through Sam Bradford's Heisman-winning career, Matt Holliday's success in Major League Baseball, K.J. Kindler's championship gymnastics program or Terry Miller's legendary performances for Oklahoma State, each inductee has helped shape Oklahoma's athletic tradition.

The induction ceremony serves not only as a celebration of past accomplishments but also as a reminder of the state's deep sports heritage and the athletes, coaches and innovators who continue inspiring future generations of Oklahomans.
