Sixty days after the governor vetoed two compacts with tribal authorities, the Oklahoma Senate has overridden those vetoes.

The vote was 37 to 7, despite some debate against the override. Senate President Pro Tem Greg Treat said there are only two ways to resolve this situation, and Congress hasn’t taken any definitive action.

“The other remedy is for a mutually beneficial compact, and that has worked since the early 90s,” Treat said.

The House returns next week to see if it can complete the process.
