This morning’s balloting stopped one vote short of the 32 needed to override. The effort needed two-thirds of the 48 members, but nine were absent, and the final vote was 31-to-8.
Senate President Pro Tem Greg Treat said Senate Bill 26 on the tribal compacts will come before the chamber again in a second override vote. A date has yet to be decided.
