Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Bills Advance With New Limits Proposed
Lawmakers are advancing a new round of Oklahoma medical marijuana bills, signaling continued efforts to tighten oversight of the state’s cannabis industry.
The proposals target grower licenses, product testing, and THC limits as legislators seek to balance patient access with enforcement concerns.
Oklahoma medical marijuana bills target licenses and testing
One of the Oklahoma medical marijuana bills would cap the number of licensed growers statewide at 2,550. Another proposal would expand mandatory testing requirements to include 72 different pesticides.
Supporters say the changes would help regulators focus on compliance and consumer safety.
THC limits included in Oklahoma medical marijuana bills
A third bill would limit THC content in edible marijuana products to 10 milligrams per item, bringing Oklahoma closer in line with regulations in other medical marijuana states.
The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority currently oversees licensing and compliance for the industry.
Industry groups warn of economic impact
Some growers and patient advocates caution that strict caps could harm legitimate operators while failing to eliminate illegal grows. Lawmakers say additional enforcement tools are still needed.
