Oklahoma City, OK — Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond is joining a coalition of 51 attorneys general from across the country in a renewed effort to stop illegal robocalls that are plaguing consumers nationwide.
The group recently sent formal warning letters to 37 phone companies, accusing them of allowing unlawful robocalls to pass through their networks in violation of federal law. These companies are also being criticized for failing to cooperate in identifying and tracing the source of the calls.
“These companies have a responsibility to protect consumers, not enable scammers,” Drummond said in a statement.
Officials say all 37 companies are not registered on a federal list of carriers committed to preventing robocalls. Being unregistered means they have not agreed to implement basic protections like call authentication, call-blocking tools, or source tracing assistance.
📞 What Happens Next:
Non-compliant carriers may face legal action or restrictions.
Federal agencies are working with telecom providers to improve robocall tracing.
The public is urged to report suspicious or unwanted calls to their state attorney general’s office.
